Abstract
Developmental analysis and comparison on childhood growth were performed with the children who were living in rural and urban areas in Korea and the following results were obtained
1. Height:
Children of the rich classes were taller than poor. Values more than 75 percentile on height were more frequently observed in children of rich families %) .and private school children (51.8%) area than children of the other groups.
Difference of values on height between families was more marked to compare with difference between school children.
2. Weight: Weight of the children showed nearly same patterns which was observed on height. Children with more than 75 percentiles on weight were 66.4% ofd rich families and 63.2% of private school in Seoul area. 59.3% of school and 44.5% of family in farm area, in order of frequency. Children of family and school in mountainous area showed lowest values on weight. than the other groups and children with more than 75 percentile on weight were 29. 8% and 28. 1% respectively. Difference of values on weight between families or school children were not so marked as the height.
3. Head circumference:
In general, development of head circumference was not as good as height or weight. Children of rich group in Seoul and of farm area (both in family and Shool) had nearly same values on head circumference and superior to the other groups.

Balanced growth of children was evaluated by comparative study with height, weight and head circumference. Children of rich family and of private school in Seoul area were superior CA and B classes were 78. 8 % and 72. 7% respectively) on balanced growth to the other groups. Children of family and school in mountainous area showed inferior (A and B classes were 35. 8% and 40. 4% respectively) to balanced growth.
